The fundamental Hildegard remedies are:
- Spelt
The best grain for digestion, good blood, cheerfulness, neutralizes black bile, offers all nutrients required by the body. Eat the habermus as cereal and porridge, spelt noodles, cookies, bread, soup and add the kernels to your daily diet.
- Fennel
The best herb for good blood, digestion, beautiful complexion, pleasant body odor, joyfulness, alkaline the blood, neutralizes black bile, removes mucus when taken in the morning on empty stomach, ensures good eyesight.
- Bertram
Clear the mind, promotes absorption of nutrients from food, promotes good digestion, anti-viral, anti-parasite, anti-bacteria, treats respiratory disorders such as sinusitis, good success in curing pneumonia, malaria and tuberculosis and prevention of dementia. Add 1 to 2 tsp to all your foods.
- Galangal
Treats heart weakness, prevents heart pain and attacks, promotes good digestion, treat nausea, dizziness and poor circulation.
- Duckweed Elixir.

- Pork

‘The plant on which wild strawberries are grown is more hot than cold. It produces mucus in the person eating it and is not valuable as a medicine. They are beneficial as food for neither the sick nor a healthy person because they grow near the ground and indeed in putrid air’.
- Peaches
‘The fruit of this tree is good for neither a sick nor a healthy person to eat. It weakens the humors in a person and produces mucus in his stomach’.
- Plums
‘The fruit of this tree is harmful and dangerous for the healthy and sick people to eat. It stirs up melancholy in a person, augments bitter humors in him, and makes all diseases bubble in him’.
- Leeks
‘Eaten raw, it is as bad and injurious for a person as a poisonous, injurious herb. It acts contrary on a person’s blood, decayed matter and humors, so that his blood does not increase properly, his corrupt matter is not diminished, and the bad humors in him are not made clean’.
